Today’s the day. We’ve been waiting for the big Walmart Nintendo Switch 2 restock as it represents one of the best opportunities to snag Nintendo’s elusive console. The Switch 2 has been in high demand, breaking sales records for a video game console.

Today’s Switch 2 restock at Walmart comes with one small catch: you’ll need a Walmart+ membership to get it. A Walmart+ membership is required during the first hour of the June 25 restock as members get early access to the in-demand console.
With so many still trying to purchase the Switch 2, there’s a high chance that Walmart’s stock will be sold out after the early access hour is up. To give yourself the best chance of success then, make sure you sign up for Walmart+.
Another thing that you need to know is that only Walmart+ paid memberships will be eligible for the early access period. A 30-day free Walmart+ trial won’t cut it. If you’re not a Walmart+ member already, sign up now to avoid wasting anytime when stock goes live.

You might grumble at having to pay the $12.95 entry fee for Walmart+, but there is a big benefit from Walmart locking its Switch 2 restock behind a paywall. The need for a paid membership should stop bots and resellers in their tracks, who tend to snap up inventory to resell on sites like eBay with an extortionate mark up.
We saw this happen frequently when the PS5 restock crisis occurred in 2021 until Walmart implemented a similar measure. At the end of the day, people who really want a Switch 2 will be happy to part ways with the $12.95, especially as you’ll pay way more than that if you went to a reseller. Walmart+ also comes with other perks.

If you’d rather buy a Switch 2 from anyone else but Walmart, the good news is it isn’t the only retailer in the US that we’re tracking for restocks. We’re expecting lots Switch 2 stock: Walmart is the largest retailer in the US, which means it usually has the most Switch 2 console inventory of any store. Hopefully some Switch 2 units will be available for non-members to buy once the Walmart+ early access hour is up, but again, we wouldn’t advise taking that chance.
Switch 2 restocks happen in waves: Walmart has had Nintendo Switch 2 in stock five times before this week, according to The Shortcut’s exclusive restock tracking data: April 24, April 26, May 30 had stock in for pre-order, while June 5, and June 6 offered another chance to get the console on release day. It’s been three weeks since the last restock, so there should be a lot of inventory available.
Expect fast delivery: Walmart Switch 2 orders tend to be sent out fast, and having Walmart+ should speed up the process further. New Switch 2 purchases on June 25 should be at your door before the weekend roll around, which means you can spend more time playing, and less time waiting for your brand-new console.
Get the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle: We strongly advise getting the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle. Not only do you save $30 on one of the best Switch 2 games, but Nintendo is sending far more stock of the Mario Kart World bundle to retailers than the standalone system.
Walmart+ requirement is a good thing, actually: The need for a Walmart+ membership should actually increase your chances of getting a Switch 2 today. As we said earlier, both resellers and casual shoppers will be put off by the entry fee, and it should also stop those troublesome bots in their tracks.
Switch 2 will probably sell out during early access
The Nintendo Switch 2 restock will be exclusive to Walmart+ members for one hour before non-members can purchase it. The Switch 2 still one of the hottest items of this year, so there’s a strong possibility that Walmart’s Switch 2 restock could sell out. Some may risk waiting until the hour is up, but honestly, we wouldn’t recommend it.
