This is the week you’ll be able to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 console, if you know where look. Best Buy stores in the US will be hosting an in-store Switch 2 restock on July 1, 2025.
If you didn’t get the big Walmart Switch 2 and Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle on June 25 and can’t wait until their next restock in July, then Best Buy stores will have the sought-after video game in “limited quantities” in the United States.

The next Switch 2 restock in the US
We’ve been live tracking Nintendo Switch 2 restocks since the console’s launch on June 5, almost one month ago. It’s actually harder to get the console now than when we wrote our Nintendo Switch 2 review a few weeks ago. In the midwest of the US, it’s easier to find Switch 2 in stock, but in metro areas like LA and New York City, the console remains sold out.

The hype around Switch 2 has grown, as more US consumers have become aware of the new console (you’d be surprised as to how many people didn’t know it was coming out). Clips shared online of frantic races in Mario Kart World, one of the best Nintendo Switch 2 launch games, are basically acting as as a marketing tool for Nintendo. They’re everywhere in our feed.

Best Buy and Walmart online restock
Best Buy in-store restock plans means we may not see the console in stock online (though The Shortcut team is tracking it just in case), which means the mid-to-late July time frame is when we expect the next massive online restock to happen. In this case, it’s probably going to be at Walmart.
Walmart has the most inventory of the console and restocks almost always happens online (not in stores). This makes the quest to buy a Switch 2 from Walmart a frantic experience. Pro tip: the more devices you have waiting in line during a Walmart Switch 2 restock, the better your chances become of buying the popular console. With Walmart+ acting as a paywall that deterred bots and resellers, Switch 2 was easier to purchase on June 25.
The exact date of the next Walmart Switch 2 restock isn’t known, but we expect it to be on or around the time of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 release date in late July. Our US retail sources are privy to when consoles will be in stock anywhere from a week to a few days ahead of time and we’re able to relay the info to subscribers of The Shortcut.
