Apple’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is finally here: the iPhone Duo just became the latest “One More Thing” surprise at an Apple Event, and the first fresh device category introduced by new CEO John Ternus.

The iPhone Duo is a passport-shaped foldable iPhone, with some extras where Samsung just can’t compete even after eight generations. Specifically, the iPhone Duo will be compatible with the Apple Pencil. It’ll also be IP68 dust- and water-resistant.
The official specs on the display sizes are: 5.4 inches on the front cover display, 7.6 inches inside. So far, there are only two colors (Samsung has Apple beat here): Star White and Night Sky. At least both look good and the entire iPhone Duo design looks premium.
It’ll come with Apple’s A20 Pro 2nm chipset, and the iOS 27 software will allow for split-screen multitasking. It’ll have Apple’s C2 modem and the A20 chip will achieve 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro thanks to an improved vapor chamber. It’ll be eSIM-only worldwide and contain two high-energy batteries; according to Apple, it offers 31 hours of battery life on video playback on the inner display and 44 hours of battery life when using just the outer display.
There’s a 48MP Fusion main camera with up to 4K120fps video, but no dedicated telephoto camera, as expected (just a 2x optical crop of the 48MP camera). An ultrawide camera is the same 48MP ultrawide camera as in the iPhone 18 Pro. There’s a FaceTime camera in either orientation, but no Face ID on this device (it’s a Touch ID-only device).
