📅 Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026
📈 Rising console prices may prompt Rockstar to release the PC version earlier than expected to boost sales
🤔 Industry speculation suggests the PC version could arrive sooner, though a one-year delay after the console launch is typical for Rockstar titles
💪 The PC version of GTA 6 is expected to offer superior performance, including higher resolutions and better frame rates compared to console versions
The GTA 6 release date is just around the corner, and PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players will be the first to experience Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel on November 19, 2026. But what about PC gamers?
GTA 6’s publisher Take-Two has said that consoles are the company’s focus, and a marketing deal with PlayStation is already well underway. However, as the price of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S continue to rise to unprecedented heights, it could spur an earlier PC release of GTA 6.
Speaking on the latest episode of the VGC Podcast, editor-in-chief Andy Robinson believes Rockstar may bring the PC version forward to offset stagnating console sales.
“I do think they’ll push the PC version up. There’s a bit of noise about that. That perhaps the PC version might arrive sooner than some people might expect just because of everything that’s going on.”
It took Rockstar around one year to launch GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 after their console releases, though other titles like Red Dead Redemption took significantly longer to arrive.
It’s probably a safe bet to assume GTA 6 will release at least one year after its debut on PS5 and Xbox consoles, especially as Sony won’t want its “plays best on PS5” marketing deal to be redundant so soon.
After all, GTA 6 on PC will offer higher frame rates, resolutions, and technologies like Nvidia DLSS upscaling to achieve superior performance and graphical fidelity. Meanwhile, the console versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 are locked to 30fps.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have become significantly more expensive compared to when they launched. The PS5 launched for $499.99 in November 2020, but now costs $649.99. The Xbox Series X was also $499.99, but has risen in price to $799.99.
