7:05 pm ET: And that folks, is all Geoff wrote. It’s the end of another Summer Game Fest and if I’m being honest – which I always am – that was a bit of a dud. It’s hard for Geoff to take reveals away from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, admittedly. But for a two hour show, the biggest reveal was confirmation that a new Resident Evil game is coming out next year. Hardly the pay off many would have expected.
But hey. At least it means the Xbox Games Showcase is bound to have some more surprises, and bigger reveals at that. That takes place on Sunday, and yeah, because I’m crazy, I’ll be live blogging that one too – if I can tear myself away from Mario Kart World.

6:56 pm ET: This looks like RE Engine. Is it a new Resident Evil? I think it is. So the original tease was a fake out? Yep, it’s RE 9. It’s called Resident Evil Requiem, it’s out February 27, 2026. It’ll also be playable at Gamescom.
6:54 pm ET: This is it. Geoff is hyping it up. The final big reveal. Perhaps the only big reveal. Will it save the show? Let’s see.
6:53 pm ET: A look at what RGG Studios are working on next. It’s set in 1943 and is called Stranger Than Heaven. We saw it at The Game Awards last year under a working title.
6:51 pm ET: Splitgate Battle Royale is available right now. The CEO said it’s “f***ing awesome” and then walked off the stage. Fair enough.
6:48 pm ET: Okay, that made me laugh. A Nintendo Switch 2 logo was shown, someone in the crowd screamed their head off and… it was just a trailer saying Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is out now. Thanks, random dude. I needed that.
6:47 pm ET: A montage of games we’ve already seen tonight and a few different ones. Basically, an ad for the Epic Games Store.
6:45 pm ET: An update from Guild Wars 2… come on, man. It’s almost midnight in the UK.
6:43 pm ET: A Soulslike, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, is the focus now. With 15 minutes to go, I’m starting to think we might not have a big, show stopping reveal this year. Happy to be proven wrong, Geoff.
6:40 pm ET: Wrestler and big gamer Kenny Omega is starring in the next trailer. He’s dressing up as new Street Fighter 6 characters coming soon, which includes Sagat.
6:38 pm ET: Resident Evil is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary. We’re getting a tease about the next game. No trailer, no screenshots, or anything. Just a tease. Kind of sums up this year’s Summer Game Fest, really.
6:34 pm ET: A rather lengthy CGI trailer for Mecha Break there but at least we got a release date at the end of it. It’s out July 1, 2025.
6:33 pm ET: Right, there’s less than half an hour to go. But as I type this, we’re getting a look at – yes, you guessed it – another Unreal Engine 5 title that looks phenomenal but will likely require a stupidly expensive PC to play it. Even then, it may have stutter struggle issues. The game is called Ill.
6:30 pm ET: A global reveal of Blighted from Drinkbox Studios is next. Looks very nice. The art style is sort of similar to Bastion.
6:27 pm ET: A LEGO party game called… LEGO Party! It’s out in 2025 and could be a real winner. There are over 60 minigames, apparently.
6:26 pm ET: Mads is on stage now. I wonder if he said hello to Kojima. I’m sure they did. Remember, he starred in Death Stranding. The LeChiffre elusive target mission starts today, in a few hours. It’s available for 30 days and you can unlock an exclusive reward in 007 First Light.
6:23 pm ET: LeChiffre from James Bond Casino Royale is a new target in Hitman World of Assassination. It uses Mads Mikkelsen likeness. Very cool.
6:21 pm ET: Mindseye trailer being shown now… it’s using the song ‘Mad World’ which we all know belongs exclusively to Gears of War. This is unacceptable. Yes, it’s a cover. But still. As for Mindseye, this game is out very soon, June 10, but apparently some of the game’s higher ups left recently. Will it be good? Well, Agent 47 is coming to the game for some sort of special assignment. Maybe that’ll help.
6:17 pm ET: Hey, Scott Pilgrim is back. It looks like a nice side-scrolling beat ‘em up. That was a genre that was dead and buried for so long and now it’s back and better than ever. The game is called Scott Pilgrim EX.
6:14 pm ET: I’ve seen clips of this game on X before and it always reminds me of Sifu in the best possible way. Considering we aren’t getting a Sifu 2 (for now), this could scratch that itch nicely. It’s called Acts of Blood and it’s out Summer 2026.
6:12 pm ET: I still feel like we haven’t had a big, megaton announcement yet. In fact, I don’t just feel like that – I know we haven’t. A lot of nice games shown but nothing that’s “break the internet” worthy. Remember there is an Xbox presentation on Sunday as well, so big reveals will probably be saved for then.
6:09 pm ET: Dying Light: The Beast is out August 22, 2025. Fun fact: I’ve never played a Dying Light game but I’ve heard really good things.
6:07 pm ET: Geoff has received a red envelope. He’s doing a skit and it’s kind of awkward. Oh, it’s Deadpool related. And it’s a Meta Quest VR game. It’s called Deadpool VR and it’s a Meta Quest 3 and 3S exclusive. Nice, I might dust off my headset for that.
6:03 pm ET: Ah, Jurassic Park. And it’s Jurassic Park Evolution 3. These games must be selling well as I never thought we’d get three entries in this series. Good for them. Sorry about this screenshot. I missed all the dinosaurs.
6:01 pm ET: A brief recap of the Unreal event that happened the other day and some of the game’s that are using Epic’s engine – hint: it’s basically everything.
5:58 pm ET: A montage of anime games are being rattled off one after the other. They all look so similar I thought it was just multiple trailers for the same game. On that note, we’re now an hour into Summer Game Fest, which means there’s at least one hour left.
5:56 pm ET: Fractured Blooms is being shown now. I don’t even know how to describe that trailer. A farming, survival horror, cooking game? Not a clue.
5:55 pm ET: Lies of P Overture is getting shown off. Not sure what genre Lies of P is… Oh, it’s available today. Some shocked cheers from the audience. Bold releasing so soon after the Switch 2 release date.
5:54 pm ET: Sandy Cheeks is on stage now. Well, not the squirrel, but the voice actress! She’s introduced a new Nickelodeon game, Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny. Only a brief look, but SpongeBob was there. We like SpongeBob.
5:52 pm ET: I bought LEGO Builder’s World. I never finished it. I should finish it. But the Switch 2 is here now. This game looks very similar and just as beautiful. Perhaps I’ll buy this and never finish it, too. Anyway, this LEGO game is called LEGO Voyagers. It looks lovely.
5:50 pm ET: I’m a big fan of the Mafia games. And unsurprisingly, I’m definitely going to play Mafia: The Old Country. You know what would be cool, a Sopranos game by the Mafia team. Just throwing that out there.
5:48 pm ET: A hand-crafted co-op adventure, Out of Words is coming 2026. That looks unique, and isn’t another Soulsborne. Okay, I’ll stop complaining now.
5:47 pm ET: I missed updating you on two games during my Soulsborne rant. Mio, a Metroidvania platformer and Wuthering Waves, which in my defense has already been revealed.
5:46 pm ET: I know it may seem a little dismissive, but Chrono Odyssey looks like just another Soulsborne. We’ve already clarified there are HUNDREDS of those. Remember what the video game industry was like before Dark Souls took off? I… I don’t think I can, honestly.
5:44 pm ET: Confession time. I still haven’t seen the Dune films. Should I? Maybe I’d be more interested in these Dune games that keep popping up if I had. I do like the bug-like helicopters. Dune Awakening launches June 10, 2025. Wow, that’s soon.
5:41 pm ET: Release date for Ark Raiders is being shown next, a game that has been positively received from the early impressions I’ve seen. It was first shown at The Game Awards in 2023, but Ark Raiders is out October 30, 2025.
5:38 pm ET: Like murder mysteries? Killer Inn is a new game from Square Enix which will appeal to those who enjoy titles like Among Us.
5:37 pm ET: As soon as I mentioned Unreal, Geoff says this next game is powered by Unreal Engine 5. However, it features muppets, which gives it a pass. It’s called Felt That Boxing and looks actually really, really funny and genuinely new.
5:35 pm ET: A new look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword after its initial reveal in December last year. Capcom’s RE Engine really is refreshing after seeing so many Unreal Engine titles. It’s coming out in 2026 and will be playable at Gamescom.
5:32 pm ET: More characters are being revealed for Marvel Cosmic Invasion: She Hulk and that racoon guy. What’s he called? I’m not a huge Marvel fan, admittedly.
5:30 pm ET: Oh, Mundfish are working on another game. It’s called The Cube, which is set in the Atomic universe and it’s a MMO online shooter.
5:28 pm ET: Another sequel! This time its Atomic Heart 2. I played a fair chunk of the first game (thanks, Game Pass) but it never really clicked with me. Gorgeous visuals, though, and a very intriguing setting. It’s coming to PC and consoles and will be powered by Unreal Engine 5. There will be a greater emphasis on RPG elements and player freedom.
5:27 pm ET: A Game of Thrones game is next. I feel like that ships sailed, especially after the disaster of the last series. At least it seems to feature the actors’ likenesses. The entire trailer is CGI though so who knows about gameplay. It’s nice CGI, I guess. The Game of Thrones game is called…. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros.
5:24 pm ET: Not a new reveal now, but another look at Mouse P.I. for Hire. Unbelievably, it features Troy Baker as one of the voice artists. Are there any other voice actors out there other than him? Seriously.
5:22 pm ET: Okay, I like the look of this one. It’s giving me Inside, Little Nightmare vibes but with gunplay. It’s called End of Abyss and it’s out in 2026.
5:21 pm ET: Nice looking game from Bandai Namco next. Ah, it’s a sequel. Code Vein 2. That’s our second sequel of the night after Mortal Shell 2.
5:19 pm ET: Sonic Racing Crossworlds aims to knock Mario off his pedestal when it releases. Hatsune Miku is a character, along with Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza, and Joker from Persona. Oh, and Steve from Minecraft (chicken jockey). Mario Kart World has a cow though. Although Sonic Racing Cross Worlds has online cross-play matchmaking.
5:14 pm ET: A new title from Raw Power Games now. After a lot of CGI, we see a snippet of gameplay. It’s called Chronicles Medieval. Not really much else to say.
5:11 pm ET: A new Death Stranding 2 trailer now. It’s showing off one of the game’s new characters. Expect more cutscenes, many more cutscenes – lengthy ones – during DS2.
5:09 pm ET: Up on stage is… Geoff’s best friend, Hideo Kojima. Apparently it’s his first appearance. He’s talking about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Kojima wants people’s to remember the pandemic when playing DS2. Honestly, I’d rather not.
5:06 pm ET: Fortnite now. Forgive me if I gloss over this live Star Wars event. It’s out June 7.
5:04 pm ET: Our first brand-new game reveal. Not one for the squeamish. Lots of blood and gore, execution-style kills – all good stuff really! Nice heavy metal soundtrack driving the action. The game is Mortal Shell 2. It’s out in 2026.
5:02 pm ET: Geoff’s up on stage now giving a little intro speech. He’s going to give us a “whirlwind tour” of games big and small. There will also be brand-new game announcements, of course.
5:00 pm ET: It’s time for the show to begin! There’s over 460,000 people watching now (the stream, not our live blog), which shows people are hyped to see what’s coming to PS5, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, etc. next!
3:52 pm ET: Welcome to our Summer Game Fest live blog! Hot on the heels of Sony’s State of Play, more gaming goodness awaits thanks to Geoff Keighley and co. The now annual event promises to deliver some “spectacular new video game announcements, surprises, and reveals”. No pressure, then.
Make sure you get comfy, as the show will last for two hours. That also means not every reveal will blow your socks off – despite what Keighley says. However, you can count on me to bring you the biggest announcements from Summer Game Fest 2025 without the filler.
Come and join me for a gaming marathon at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm BST / 11pm CEST. It sure beats watching the show alone.
