📣 Sony has announced the next wave of PS Plus Premium and Extra games
🔫 It’s headlined by Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry Primal
💍 Joining those are Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel
🎁 As well as a bunch of others to sink your teeth into over the holiday season
Sony has revealed the next batch of games heading to PS Plus Premium and Extra this December, packing out the PS Plus Premium games list with a few tasty gems.
Leading the pack is open-world FPS Far Cry 5, standalone co-op spin-off Far Cry New Dawn, and prehistoric sibling Far Cry Primal. They’re not the latest games in the series but will give you plenty to dig into if you’re a Far Cry fan. Primal is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a light survival game – what other games let you hunt a woolly mammoth?
Alongside those comes Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. Taking the role of a Ranger who apparently thinks he can single-handedly obliterate the entirety of Sauron’s dark forces, you’ll fight your way through Mordor, spending most of your time climbing up rickety structures and slaying orcs in slick melee combat. The games really stand out, though, for their Nemesis System, which organically creates personalized stories between you and your foes as you progress.
A couple of Yakuza games are also heading to the platform. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life rounds off the main storyline started in the Yakuza games that are already on PS Plus. Yakuza: Like a Dragon, meanwhile, is a fresh start that focuses on a new protagonist and shifts the series into an action RPG. It’s probably the best entry into the acclaimed series.
There are several more games coming as well, including the magnificent RPG Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, dungeon manager Evil Genius 2, and the fun if not simple Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion.
Here’s every game heading to PS Plus Extra and Premium. All games will be available starting December 20, except WWE 2K22, which will be coming on January 3.

Since revamping and relaunching PS Plus earlier in the year, Sony has plumped up its library of downloadable games month to month, even if its subscriber base continues to fall.
If you are a member, don’t forget to grab this month’s PS Plus free games, as well. December’s line-up, which is available to claim for all PS Plus subscribers on the Essential plan and up, includes Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Biomutant and Divine Knockout.
If Microsoft’s word is anything to go by, PS Plus could look very different in the future. The Xbox maker recently suggested Call of Duty could come to PS Plus should its proposed buyout of Activision Blizzard close, although the deal is in jeopardy now the FTC has sued to block it.
