iMac M6 could feature new colors, with a release date tipped for later this year

Apple is reportedly set to launch a brand new iMac before the end of the year, complete with some noteworthy upgrades.

As per reliable Apple tipster Mark Gurman for Bloomberg, he expects Apple’s new iMac to be an updated 24-inch model with an M6 chip. It’s designed to replace the existing iMac M5 model that arrived in October 2024.

His newsletter mentions that “All signs point to the M6 models being close to launch” with the new models expected to arrive “before the end of the year”. So by the end of 2026, we could be due a brand new iMac with a shiny new chip.

As well as a bump in overall performance, the new 24-inch iMac is set to come in new colors, although Gurman stops short of suggesting what they are.

For reference, the current iMac comes in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Apple adjusted the palette slightly for the 2024 refresh, although it didn’t change the core colors, as 9to5Mac has noted.

Apart from this, no major design changes are expected. It has been rumored Apple is developing a 24-inch iMac with an OLED screen, although this reportedly won’t arrive for several years.

With this in mind, we had heard late last year Apple was set to release a brand new iMac Pro this year with the M5 Max inside, although it’s unknown whether this is set to come to fruition.

It seems the next couple of years are shaping up to be an exciting time for Mac, especially with the long-awaited OLED MacBook Pro potentially coming soon, and the prospect of a MacBook Neo 2 after the runaway success of the original MacBook Neo that launched earlier this year.
