The big GameStop PS5 restock today has more Sony consoles in stock than you think
The PS5 restock at GameStop has more units in key locations throughout the United States
The GameStop PS5 restock today, May 28, has ample Sony PlayStation 5 bundles in stock for the store’s PowerUp Rewards Pro members, and there are more consoles in key locations throughout the United States.
While the average is eight consoles per store, as I exclusively reported this week, key locations I checked in New York City have between 16 and 24 consoles per store, and employees told me that they have more in the back. Your chances just increased in being able to buy PS5 if you’re in a major city in the US.
GameStop PS5 restock May 2022
You can still get the PS5 from GameStop today at certain locations, especially on the West Coast, where the PS5 restock time is just getting underway. Most GameStop stores open at 11am local time. The most inventory of the PlayStation 5 is in California, although some high-traffic GameStop stores will try to stick you with extras, I can report. For example, you may be forced to buy a two-year warranty or LG television.
A lot of the data comes from the followers of my 1M+ PS5 restock Twitter following as well as employee sources who reached out to me about the restock of their stores. This is the first nationwide restock of the PlayStation 5 where you actually have a chance to buy the console, unlike the Amazon PS5 restock this week. It’s because GameStop PS5 bundles ward away resellers who try to profit from scooping up all of the inventory, and bots are not an issue because transactions happen in person.
The next PS5 restock date
The Walmart PS5 restock on June 2 at 3pm ET is the next restock date that you should pay attention to because it doesn’t require a bundle like GameStop does and it happens online, which makes it easier for some people to purchase the console (it’s delivered to your home instead of being offered as an in-store pickup as you’ll find with the Best Buy and Target PS5 restock). Walmart also has the most inventory.
That said, you will need the paid version of Walmart Plus to be eligible for the PS5 restock at the online store. While Sony has put a bunch of PS5 games on sale this week and there’s always a PlayStation Plus discount code in stock, Walmart is making a big push to discount other products on June 2 through the weekend. And it’s kicking off its sales Walmart Plus-exclusive sales period with a PS5 restock. That’s only if you don’t get the GameStop PS5 restock today.
GameStop PS5 restock price
The amount you pay for this PS5 restock will vary depending on the bundle that’s available, but the going rate for a PS5. It’s not $499 MSRP like in a Sony Direct PS5 queue. There are 14 times as many PS5 Disc consoles than PS5 Digital Edition consoles at retailers, my in-depth research has shown, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find PS5 Digital in stock today at GameStop.
But the GameStop PS5 restock price is $770 will vary mostly because of the Sony “Days of Gaming” sales going on (PS5 DualSense controllers and most PS5 games are on sale right now). And even when GameStop mandates that you pay for an LG 4KTV, the higher-priced bundle will sell with desperate consumers ready to buy PS5, unlike any current Xbox Series X restock readily available. This is the reason to opt for Walmart for PS5 on June 2 if GameStop is too pricey for you. Walmart’s price is $499.
While I did see people line up outside of GameStop stores in the United States for this PS5 restock, demand has been down throughout May 2022. However, supply hasn’t been met and Sony’s PS5 sales have been weaker than expected since launch. My on-the-scene reporting at GameStop stores showed a line at first, but because of the weather, the few people waiting bailed on staying outside of two GameStop locations in Manhattan. But the video system is selling out on the East Coast, I can report.
