📅 The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 releases soon on October 29
🔜 Best Buy and the Nintendo Store are the only retailers who have announced restocks so far
🤔 It’s important to know when retailers go live with restocks so you don’t miss out
👉 A restock could occur a few days before the console’s release, or shortly after
We’re getting closer to the release of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 special edition, which arrives on October 29. As it stands, the console is completely sold out, even though it costs $519.99 – $20 more than the standard Switch 2, which also recently increased in price by $50 in September.
Clearly, that hasn’t put buyers off. The console’s beautiful, intricate design, which pays tribute to one of Nintendo’s most iconic and longest running series, has flown off the shelves. However, if you missed out on a pre-order, all is not lost.

US retailers that we know will have Zelda Switch 2 restocks
As of writing, there’s only one retailer that has announced an upcoming The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 special edition restock, and that’s Best Buy. Best Buy will be offering limited quantities of the console at select stores during its midnight launch event for the game on November 5 (remember, the special edition console does not include a copy of the game).
Nintendo has also shared a rather flimsy promise that stock of the Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 will be “replenished” soon. We’re still waiting for a follow-up announcement with a date and time, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
As for other retailers, there’s less certainty when it comes to finding a Zelda Switch 2 restock, but here’s what you need to know to further your chances if a restock does occur.
These are the times and days retailers restock
Like any good adventurer, you’ll need to arm yourself with the right equipment – and knowing when each retailer tends to restock will be your sword and shield.
If you’re refreshing Target’s page late at night, you’ll be wasting your time, as the retailer always restocks early in the morning. Walmart saves its restocks for Thursday and Friday mornings, so don’t get up early on Monday with the hopes of getting lucky. Check out our restock timing cheat sheet above so you can see when retailers may have Zelda Switch 2 stock at a glance.
Quick tip: set up instant checkout for each retailer
If you’re spending time entering your address, billing details and other information at checkout, it could cost you dearly. Ensure you make checking out as seamless as possible by doing the following:
Add your address, payment details, and phone number to the account
Stay signed in on your desktop or mobile (logging back in will only slow you down)
Enable 1-click checkout on Amazon
Use Apple Pay or Google Pay for even faster checkout
It’s an easy step to take for granted, but it’s one that can determine whether you get the console or not.
We’re tracking Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 restocks, so subscribe and follow us on X to give yourself an even better chance of picking up the special edition console when it comes back in stock.
