Apple has announced its next-generation Apple TV 4K, which it calls its most immersive home theatre experience yet.
The new box has a faster chip, built-in microphones for hands-free voice control and Siri AI, the company’s rebuilt, more conversational assistant. It also works as a smart home hub and supports a new four-speaker surround sound setup.
Here’s everything you need to know about the fourth-gen Apple TV 4K, including its key features, price, release date, and more.
Apple TV 4K (4th gen) price
The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 in the US, or $49.83 a month for six months through Apple Card Monthly Instalments.
Apple is also selling its new Siri Remote separately. It’s compatible with both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K.
Apple TV 4K (4th gen) release date
Apple says the new Apple TV 4K goes on sale on Friday, November 13, 2026, so we’ve got about a month to wait until you’ll be able to get your hands on it.
What’s more, Siri AI is available at launch in English in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.
Apple says Siri AI also arrives as a beta on the Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) and later. It’s labelled a beta in tvOS 27.2, and the release says Siri AI won’t initially be available in the EU.
Apple TV 4K (4th gen) pre-order
Pre-orders are open now for the fourth-gen Apple TV 4K in the US and 29 other countries and regions, through apple.com/store and the Apple Store app, so if you want one, you can head over to the Apple Store and get one ordered.
Apple TV 4K (4th gen) specs and features
If you’ve been wondering how this new Apple TV 4K stacks up, then Apple has also provided some very handy spec information:
Performance: The new A19 chip inside reportedly gives up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation, according to Apple. It also includes a dedicated AV1 decoder, which Apple says allows more efficient, high-quality streaming that uses less bandwidth.
Siri AI: Siri AI gets a full-screen interface on Apple TV, so you can ask for things like award-winning shows and get poster art and follow-up suggestions. While you’re watching, you can ask about the show itself, such as where it was filmed or whether it’s suitable for a teenager, and the answer appears in a small overlay.
Paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, Siri AI can also draw on personal context for requests like playing a show a friend recommended. Siri AI requires the owner of the home in the Home app to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, and it appears Apple is betting big that folks will unify their device ecosystem to take full advantage of Siri AI.
Hands-free control: Another big upgrade is that the fourth-gen Apple TV 4K has three far-field microphones that let you say “Hey Siri” or just “Siri” without picking up the remote. Apple says echo cancellation isolates your voice while audio is playing. Far-field support varies by region and language, and Apple’s list includes English, French, German, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Hebrew and Mandarin Chinese.
Smart home hub: Apple TV 4K supports automations, guest mode and local processing of HomeKit Secure Video, with Apple Intelligence-generated video descriptions and summarised notifications. With a compatible doorbell (presumably those released as part of the new range of accessories from LG and Schneider Electric), you can see and talk to visitors and unlock the door without leaving what you’re watching.
It also has built-in Wi-Fi and Thread and supports hands-free control of accessories and scenes through Siri AI. The video descriptions need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan.
Entertainment: Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade, the App Store games library and Apple Originals are all available on the new Apple TV 4K, along with live sports such as Formula 1 (US only), MLS and Friday Night Baseball.
FaceTime calls work through Continuity Camera (where you can use your iPhone as a Mac webcam), while a new iCloud Photos option lets you choose which photos appear as screen savers without exposing your whole library, and a new shuffle feature rotates between screen saver categories.
Privacy: Apple is also betting big on privacy with the new Apple TV 4K, stating that microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves, separate from the rest of the system, and Siri requests use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute. HomeKit Secure Video footage is stored end-to-end encrypted, so you can be sure everything is kept safe and secure.
