Nintendo has announced that Wave 64 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack this week on August 19.
The classic title was released for the N64 in 1996 and featured realistic water physics that were incredibly advanced at the time and arguably hold up today.
The game joins the growing list of Nintendo 64 games available to play on Switch, as Nintendo has consistently added one game a month since the service launched on October 25, 2021.
N64 games on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service let you play online with friends if they have a multiplayer component, create multiple suspend and resume points during a game, and feature improved visuals.
It’s worth bearing in mind that even if you’re not nostalgic for N64 and Sega Genesis titles, members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier also get Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass and the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion for free.
Once Wave Race 64 arrives, there will be 18 games in the N64 library, a healthy bump from the nine titles that launched the service in October.

What’s coming to Switch next?
Nintendo has several big releases scheduled for this year. Splatoon 3 arrives on September 9, while Bayonetta 3, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope are also due this year.
But could we see a Nintendo Switch get a price hike? Nintendo said Switch won’t get a price increase “at this point” but hasn’t ruled it out, similar to how Sony refused to rule out a PS5 price increase.
