A new Xbox Series X update has arrived that lets you view secret achievements without looking them up online.

The feature has been added as part of the June Xbox update and will come as welcome news to those who love to seek out every achievement a game offers.

As outlined on Xbox Wire, simply open the guide by pressing the Xbox button and head to Game activity > Achievements. When you see a secret achievement, you can choose to reveal its details and see what criteria you need to meet to unlock it.

After you’ve finished viewing a secret achievement, you can again make it a mystery or choose to keep the details displayed – it’s totally up to you.

The new Xbox Series X update brings Xbox achievements more in line with how trophies work on PS4 and PS5. Players have had the option to reveal hidden trophies since 2016 on Sony’s consoles, and it’s an excellent quality of life feature – I hate having to grab my phone mid-game just to find out the details of a secret achievement.

🤔 Are hidden achievements a waste of time?

Hidden achievements may seem like a redundant feature, but they serve a purpose. They can often contain spoilers regarding a game’s story or simply serve as a pleasant surprise when you manage to unlock one by chance.

The June Xbox update also improves the speed and reliability of detecting available updates in your collection and when you launch a game. The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S sometimes take needlessly long to determine whether a game needs an update, so this should fix this issue.

It may have taken well over a year, but Microsoft appears to have addressed its Xbox Series X restock issues. You can find the flagship console at several retailers for $499, and the Xbox Series S is also widely available for $299. We’ve often seen the Xbox Series S going for less, making Microsoft’s affordable next-gen console even more of a great deal.

Sadly the PS5 isn’t as easy to find. Sony’s console continues to be elusive, despite being on sale since November 2020. However, we’ve helped thousands of people secure a PS5, so make sure you subscribe to The Shortcut for all the latest PS5 restock updates.
