Today is Valve’s 30th anniversary, but sadly, we’re not celebrating with a Steam Frame release date announcement. Instead, those who are patiently waiting for Valve’s VR headset can enjoy some more crumbs of hope, as another Steam Frame accessory has been spotted.
Spigen, which makes accessories for phones, handhelds, and VR, has listed its cushioned controller grips for the Steam Frame VR controller.
The grips provide a non-slip texture that is purpose-moulded for the Steam Frame controllers. They’re also adjustable to fit any hand size, and let you play more vigorous games without worrying about dropping your controller.
The Spigen Cushioned Controller Grips join other Steam Frame accessories appearing across Amazon and Walmart, including a head strap and case from Spigen, more cases from Fosmon, plus VR gun accessories for the headset’s controllers. There’s also a hard case from EJGAME.
Predictably, there’s no release date listed, with the item showing as ‘currently available’. We’re still waiting for Valve to share when the Steam Frame will release, and we’re still none the wiser when it comes to the price.
All signs point to an expensive package, with many predicting the Steam Frame will cost $1,000 and up. Qualcomm, which develops the chip inside the headset, announced that prices would increase and that the memory crisis is only getting worse. With 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage, depending on the model, it’s hard to see anything but a four-figure price tag.
