The Walmart PS5 restock and Xbox Series X restock today, December 8 at 12pm EST, will be Walmart’s last big one before Christmas, according to the exclusive data that my Twitter followers have shared with me.

With over one million Twitter followers, I have a deep well of information – the prior two Walmart PS5 and Xbox restock events had average shipping dates of December 14 and, before that, December 5 with seven days between the ordering dates (note: there are nine days between today’s Walmart restock date and the last stock).

While many recent console deliveries have been ahead of schedule from Walmart (yes, Walmart), you’d have to think that today’s December 8 restock is going to stretch the official shipping time to just before December 25.

What does this mean? It’s all the more reason to get this one right.

🔢 How to buy PS5 at Walmart on December 8 explainer

The PS5 and Xbox restock at Walmart will require the retailer’s paid membership (not the free trial, as that doesn’t grant you early access to the consoles). Meaning, you’re going to have to part with at least $12.95 for the chance to buy a video game system. I opted for the $98 for Walmart+ for a year as I’ll actually use it and it’ll save me money in the long run vs the monthly payments. Your mileage may vary.

I’ll tweet a few times in advance of the Walmart PlayStation 5 and Xbox restock, and I’ll be on video in a YouTube live stream to illustrate how to get a leg up in the Walmart virtual queue. By crowd-sourcing wait times with thousands of other people in the live chat on YouTube, it makes people more aware of their chances.

Don’t opt for the PS5 Digital if you want the best chance at a Sony console before Christmas from Walmart. I’ve helped 14,000 in the last week and less than 1,000 of the consoles sold were PS5 Digital. Think about how hard you’re making it on yourself if you’re only trying for a console where there’s 14x less inventory.

You can try to enter the Walmart queue for the PS5 and Xbox using multiple browsers and devices (don’t just open up another tab as cookie files are shared in the same browser and you’ll just be in the same spot across all tabs).

But remember, since you’re refreshing the Walmart link I give you and doing that for a full minute until you drop into the PS5 Disc queue from 11:59am EST until 12pm EST, whichever browser you use first will have the best chance. When you see the center-aligned box pop up, don’t even look at the queue time. Switch to your next browser or device to refresh for a second (though inferior chance). Choose wisely.

Can I buy PS5 or Xbox Series X without Walmart+?
No. This is a question I get – a lot. Walmart has been locking console restocks behind its new Walmart+ membership to prevent scripted bots from scooping up all of the consoles. Previously, resellers have been creating as many free accounts as possible and buying multiple consoles. Casual resellers who buy one or two consoles only to resell them are also turned off. Walmart+ hasn’t solved the issue (people will still get them who shouldn't), but it’s curbed the habits of some resellers that I’ve interviewed.

Will PS5 and Xbox be sold in Walmart stores on December 11?
No. You won’t find PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch OLED in Walmart stores during the Walmart Gamer Drop event. It’s meant for demo games, hardware and discounts. But you won’t be able to buy the new consoles in person.

Why is Walmart so difficult, even for PS5 and Xbox you have Walmart+?
Supply and popularity. Even though Walmart has the most console inventory of any store in the United States, according to my retail sources, it also has the biggest name recognition. My Walmart restock tweets get 122,000+ click through on the links.
