🤨 A customer is heard asking, “Yo, should we stop ‘em, or what?”
Shocking footage of an Apple store robbery has emerged online that shows thieves snatching up thousands of dollars of Apple products, completely unopposed.
The two robbers are filmed grabbing iPhones, MacBooks and more from the Apple Store in Palo Alto, California. But as uncomfortable as it is to watch a crime scene unfold in real-time, it’s surprising to see that no one does anything to stop them. In fact, one customer openly asks an Apple employee, “Yo, should we stop ‘em, or what?”
In the video below, you can see Apple store employees, wearing red polo shirts, moving customers out of the way, and making sure no one intervenes. And there are a couple of good reasons for that. A customer who did reportedly step forward to stop the robbers was threatened with violence, according to a police report.
First of all, it’s not worth anyone risking their lives or serious injury over a few mass-produced products, especially not customers who are simply visiting the store, or Apple store staff who won’t be paid nearly enough to risk their safety. That should be obvious.
Second, it’s extremely likely that Apple has security measures in place to prevent any stolen devices from being activated. Basically, the thieves have nabbed themselves a bag load of glorified paperweights and police will be on high alert for any resellers in the area.
However, the brazen confidence that the thieves displayed and the ease that they were able to rob the store in the first place is a huge concern. It’s baffling that the Apple Store didn’t have a security guard, or seemingly any quick-fire measure to alert the authorities to the robbery.
The robbers reportedly stole around $35,000 of Apple products according to the New York Post, and are yet to be arrested. The police believe the two suspects are in their teens or early twenties.
This isn’t the first time the Apple store in Palo Alto, California has been robbed. The store was robbed twice in 24 hours, with the thieves stealing over $100,000 in Apple products. In 2016, the store was ram-raided, and the robbers absconded with thousands of dollars of merchandise.
Apple has warned that iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max supply issues due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions in China. The Cupertino-based company also announced the best iPhone apps of 2022.
