Sony has announced two new PS5 headsets that have been made in collaboration with Audeze, the high-end audio company it acquired in August 2023: the PlayStation Pulse and the PlayStation Pulse Edge.
The two headsets feature studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that Sony says deliver “rich, lifelike sound” and “exceptional sound separation and spatial accuracy”.
The Pulse and Pulse Edge feature larger planar magnetic drivers than the Pulse Elite headset released in 2024, and each supports PlayStation Link for lossless, ultra-low latency audio.

PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge price
Sony hasn’t shared the price of the PlayStation Pulse or Pulse Edge just yet, with more details releasing soon. The PlayStation Pulse will be the more affordable option, as the Pulse Edge features eight magnets per planar driver as opposed to four. It also has built-in game audio and chat balance control for PS5, active noise cancellation, comes with a carrying case, and an audio/microphone jack.
Based on these specs, it’s likely that the PlayStation Pulse will follow the Pulse Elite’s price of $149.99, though it may be slightly cheaper. The PlayStation Pulse Edge will probably command a higher price tag of at least $199.99, if not $249.99.
PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge release date
The PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets will launch in early 2027. It means we can expect a launch date of either January, February, March, or April 2027.
PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge pre-order
Expect pre-orders for the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge to begin early next year, as Sony tends to give consumers at least a month’s notice for hardware releases.
PlayStation Pulse vs Pulse Edge specs
The PlayStation Pulse Edge is being positioned as the premium audio experience compared to the Pulse, and features double the magnet volume. Sony says it will deliver “even richer, deeper bass while maintaining the precision and clarity that lets subtle details shine through”.
Unlike the Pulse, the Pulse Edge includes active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic for improved voice chat over the Pulse headset’s integrated mic, along with a premium carrying case. Both the Pulse and Pulse Edge will be available in either Midnight Black or White.
You can also connect the Pulse and Pulse Edge to PS5, PC, Mac and Bluetooth devices. There’s support for simultaneous Bluetooth audio.
