ExpressVPN has launched its second line of routers with the new Fortify router. Building on the brand’s now-retired Aircove line, the Fortify still comes with a built-in VPN and a more capable GL.iNet’s Flint 2 platform that supports Wi-Fi 6 AX6000, 4×4 MU-MIMO, Multi-Gig connectivity, support for up to 86 concurrent devices, and VPN speeds up to 900Mbps on WireGuard.
All that means you can connect more devices and get much higher dual-band speeds, up to 1148Mbps on 2.4GHz and 4804Mbps on 5GHz, while staying fully protected by ExpressVPN. The new 900Mbps WireGuard speed is significantly faster than Aircove’s previous 330Mbps, so you can stream 4K content and game with less lag.
The ExpressVPN Fortify router also features a 2.0GHz quad-core processor, 1GB DDR4 memory, 8GB eMMC storage, Multi-Gig wired connectivity through one 2.5G WAN port, one 2.5G WAN/LAN port, and four LAN Ethernet ports.
Priced at $199, the ExpressVPN Fortify Router sits at the midrange for premium routers and it’s available now. It also includes 12 months of ExpressVPN’s Advanced service, normally $119.95, plus three days of holiday.com eSIM data. American buyers can also take advantage of Identity Defender, which offers monitoring and tools if your personal information is misused.
While ExpressVPN is sunsetting its Aircove and Aircove GO routers, the company promises it will continue to distribute critical security updates and customer support through 2027 and the while Aircove Go will be supported through 2028. Existing Aircove and Aircove Go owners can also be eligible for a 20% discount on Fortify and claim the offer through ExpressVPN’s Customer Support.
