A great article and good read. I agree with most points in that I too am still clutching my beastie iPhone 13. I agree that other companies do different things but, at the same time; at least to me, foldable tech is just not quite there and largely solves a non existent problem. Apple I think is at a kind of impasse in that it’s hard to find new directions for smartphones to go in. For my money what Apple may be better off doing is pairing down clutter in IOS and the App Store and go back to focusing on quality rather than quantity. Apple just feels messy these days.

If the rumors run true, the event looks to be very minimal in upgrades. The new back design on the 17 pro is going to be very divided. Also looks like very minimal changes for the watch, which feels like a missed opportunity if it is just refinements. Would have thought there would be some more drastic changes but we'll have to see. Also curious to find out if they have any answer for on device AI. Siri just cannot compete with Gemini on device specifically on the Google/Samsung phones.
I fear you may be right. I'd also like to see a bigger upgrade for the Apple Watch. I'm still rocking my Series 8 with no intention of upgrading yet. If they could promise two-day battery life then I'd be interested! Yeah, they've dropped the ball big time with AI.
