🛍️ We found that Nintendo’s official Store has had intermittent pre-orders, while Walmart is sitting on a supply of consoles it won’t launch until next week
🏬 Midnight launches at GameStop, Best Buy, and Nintendo New York/San Francisco happen on November 5, but passes to the Nintendo Store are gone
Check these stores first if you want to buy the Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console. We’re also tracking the Zelda 40th anniversary controller at stores in the US.

The first special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 console has arrived, and we know that not every fan has been able to snag the Zelda Switch 2 to celebrate the series’ 40th Anniversary. That’s why we’ve booted up our reliable console restock tracker to help out.
Walmart Zelda Switch 2 console update
While it’s currently sold out at online stores in the US for Saturday, October 31, Zelda Switch 2 inventory changes almost daily. For example, Walmart oversold its allotment of consoles (they said Nintendo hasn’t fulfilled its order in time for the original October 29 launch) and has started to refund disappointed customers while also giving them a free console later.
There’s a good chance that once Walmart gets more Zelda Switch 2 consoles, it’ll open up pre-orders again. Not everyone who gets canceled on will reorder the console (Walmart sent out an email which some people are going to just miss).
This may be your best shot at finding the console in stock online this upcoming week
Nintendo Store restocks have become a trickle
Your other option is to try buying the console at the official Nintendo Store online. But it sells out in a fraction of a second, according to our exclusive tracking data. One initial wave this past week helped thousands of people secure the video game system. The Shortcut’s analysis is that a few canceled consoles go back into the system every few hours, but tens of thousands of people are trying to get them.
That said, our 24/7 Zelda Switch 2 restock will keep issuing alerts just in case there are more massive waves of the special-edition console. Both Matt Swider’s X account and The Shortcut Substack have the best resources for keeping on top of restocks.
Amazon Zelda Switch 2 restocks
Amazon is by far the toughest online retailer in the US for securing a Zelda Switch 2 pre-order. Many Zelda fans have said that Amazon has been “botted out,” meaning that the consoles are being bought instantly by bots operated by resellers.
The Shortcut is still tracking the Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 console at Amazon in the United States, but you’ll have to be fast to that Buy Now button in order to secure the pre-order. It’s the most popular online retailer with the quickest one-button checkout process, so it does seem like its console inventory goes the quickest compared to Best Buy and Walmart.
In-store Zelda Switch 2 restocks in the US
Stores in the US have been asked not to sell consoles until November 5 at midnight, so you may want to line up outside of stores on November 4. But not all stores will support midnight launches. GameStop and Best Buy are your best bets, while the two official Nintendo Stores in the US – in NYC and San Francisco – require a Warp Pipe pass in order to purchase any of the Zelda 40th anniversary hardware, and those sold out in 30 seconds. If you didn’t click on the browser refresh button at the exact right moment, those passes were gone.
Stay tuned for more Zelda Switch 2 restock information in the US as we continue to get updates from Nintendo and American retailers on when and where it’ll be sold. It’s become the toughest video game product to find in stock in 2026, but our tracker is locked in to know the moment it’s back in stock.
