The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 special edition is almost here as the console releases on Thursday, October 29 – and we’re expecting to see new inventory appear on launch day.
The console has been sold out at every retailer since it was revealed, even though the Zelda Switch 2 costs $20 more than the standard Switch 2 at $519.99. However, its beautiful design and homage to Nintendo’s iconic series means it’s been incredibly popular, and we’ve been tracking Zelda Switch 2 restocks to help you get one.
October 29 could be a key date to mark in your calendar, as retailers usually hold back stock for any launch day buyers who haven’t pre-ordered. Cancellations can also occur in the run up to release, meaning more stock is made available that was previously snapped up.
Zelda Switch 2 restock – Walmart could have stock
Best Buy is the only retailer that has announced it will have fresh stock of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 special edition on October 29, with select stores reserving units for its midnight launch event on November 5 – the same day The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time comes out.
However, we’ve seen retailers like Walmart historically hold back stock for launch day, even if pre-orders have already sold out. The retailer usually reserves some supply for online customers, which is why we’ll be keeping a close eye on Walmart as launch day approaches.
Nintendo is also a retailer to watch. It shared a promise that stock of the Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 would be “replenished”, and that could equate to online orders or limited quantities at its US Nintendo Stores in New York and San Francisco.
Other retailers like Target, GameStop and Amazon may also get in a fresh batch of consoles in on launch day, and we’ll notify you if and when any Zelda Switch 2 restocks occur.
Why you can trust our Zelda Switch 2 restock tracker
We helped 400,000+ people buy a PS5 when it was in and out of stock for two years, and we’ve made it our goal to help our subscribers secure hard-to-find times. The Shortcut followers were some of the first to secure the Nintendo Switch 2 when it went up for pre-order, and we’ve done the same with the PS5 30th anniversary edition and more hard-to-find stock.
The Shortcut and Matt Swider on X offer exclusive Zelda 40th anniversary Switch restock updates with up-to-the-second US store inventory checks. You’ll also receive an instant notification on X (if set to on) when new stock arrives.
