👀 The next Elder Scrolls game is officially titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel
🆕 The name and a new trailer were revealed to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary
🎉 Todd Howard shared the announcement at the end of an anniversary celebration video
🤷♂️ It is currently unconfirmed whether the game will be an Xbox exclusive
Microsoft and Bethesda have revealed that the next Elder Scrolls game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel and released a new trailer.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma previously teased the game’s full name, but to mark the series 40th anniversary, we finally have the answer.
In a post on X, Sharma said: “Sentinel is the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls. An incredible way for Bethesda Studios to mark 40 years of building worlds that speak to millions of players across generations. Congratulations to the team, past and present.”
Bethesda’s Todd Howard shared the name of the next Elder Scrolls game at the end of a video celebrating 40 years of the company. A short trailer shows the new title accompanied by a familiar musical score that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim fans will recognize.
A quote also appears at the end from Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, that says: “The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.”
Whether or not The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel will be a Xbox exclusive remains to be seen, as no announcement was made. Microsoft recently reversed its decision to release all of its first-party games on other platforms, with Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution becoming Xbox console and PC exclusives once again.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has also poured cold water on the release date, and claimed that the next Elder Scrolls is still more than two years away.
Still, after being revealed all the way back in 2018, Elder Scrolls fans will take any crumb of comfort that the game is at least progressing – even if that may be at a glacial pace.
