I wonder if the shortage of software sales is related to people going back to work…. Meaning less time to play.

I feel like that's a giant factor. We saw Netflix with similar surges (and subsequent decreases) during the height of the pandemic. PS5 scarcity + looking for something to play really heightened demand for the console. Now people have the ability to see friends and the requirement to go back to work. They're still buy 1-2 games every 6 months, IMO, but games 2-5? Those won't be bought until next year.

I think that's certainly a factor! I do wonder if the $70 price tag of Sony's first-party games is having an impact as well. It's not like it hasn't released some big titles this year in Horizon and GT7.
