💻 Apple’s next-generation MacBook Neo could be more popular than the first
🏭 New leaks suggest Apple is ramping up production of the laptop - big time
✌️ The company could produce double the amount of Neos in 2027
⚙️ The laptop is rumored to make key upgrades to the core experience
📆 Apple will reportedly announce the MacBook Neo 2 in early 2027
The MacBook Neo took the world by storm when it was announced earlier this year, and it sounds like its sequel could be an even bigger hit. Apple is telling suppliers ahead of its launch to expect double the volume of units as this year, going from 8 million to as many as 16 million for 2027. That’s according to a new report from Digitimes, quoting supply chain sources.
There’s plenty of reason to believe the next MacBook Neo will be a hit like the first one was. Apple’s ability to kick out a laptop under $700 with a premium design, full macOS, and solid performance put the entire market on notice, and we have yet to see a Windows-powered alternative that can go toe-to-toe with the Neo in a meaningful way.
Apple underestimated how popular the Neo would be at first, having run out of A18 Pro chips at one point to power the machines. Apple has likely learned its lesson, though, since it’s reportedly prepared to double production and have far more units on hand for those who want to buy the next version.
The second-gen MacBook Neo is rumored to keep the same design as the first one, with a 13-inch display and a colorful exterior. The laptop will reportedly get an upgrade to the A19 Pro chip (the same one found in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air), and go from 8GB of RAM to 12GB. We haven’t heard anything about a price increase, which could be good news, although we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Apple is rumored to announce the next MacBook Neo in early 2027, sometime around when the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 launch.
