Apple is rumored to announce its first foldable iPhone next month, and one of the biggest questions surrounding it is what colors it’ll be offered in. A new leak throws a curve ball at previous expectations that the phone would be offered in black and white, suggesting that while white is still on the table, black could be swapped out for a deep, dark blue.
Camera protectors for the iPhone Fold were leaked over the weekend, courtesy of Sonny Dickson on X. The protectors are designed to match the colors of the device, and they seem to showcase two different finishes: a traditional silver/white finish, and one that’s much more of a dark blue than a black.
The most recent leaks have indicated that Apple would ship the iPhone Fold in Silver and Space Gray/Black, contradicting early reports of a blue finish. However, it seems like the dark blue colorway could make it to market after all, given Dickson’s surprisingly accurate track record when it comes to leaks like this.
The camera protectors also seem to confirm that Apple will stick with horizontally-placed cameras on the iPhone Fold, which has been rumored to be part of the design for quite some time. It’ll look like a shorter, wider version of the iPhone Air from the back, complete with two cameras instead of one in its plateau.
The iPhone Fold is expected to arrive in mid-September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. It’ll feature a titanium design that’s roughly 4.5mm thick when open, and include a Touch ID sensor on the side for security. The 5.5-inch and 7.8-inch displays will make it the most versatile and radically-different iPhone that Apple has ever shipped, with the hinge mechanism using a new “Liquidmetal” structure for greater durability and a minimal crease.
The phone is expected to be powered by the A20 chip, a ~4,800mAh battery, and run a specialized version of iOS 27 with iPad-like multitasking. It’s rumored to cost somewhere around $2,000 to $2,500, making it Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date.
