The Insta360 X6 wants to be the everything camera you bring around everywhere with an all new smaller body and larger camera sensors.
First off it is smaller with a new shape that shrinks the previous rice crispy-sized Insta360 X5 to the roughly size of Clif energy bar. Secondly, the dual camera sensors have grown from 1/1.28-inch to a new pair of 1/1.1-inch sensors. Insta360 claims those 33% larger sensors capture four times the amount of light per frame.
Internally, the Insta360 X6 also features a new Qualcomm 8-core processor with two extra dedicated imaging chips that promises 500% more computing power than the X5 thanks to a 106% faster clock speed. All that power allows the X6 to record at a maximum 8K and 50 fps resolution 360-degree footage. In single lens mode, the Insta360 X6 can record 5Kp60 footage as well as 4Kp120 slow motion.
This new chip also adds support for native in-camera Dolby Vision recording plus a new 10-bit I-Log format. Insta360 has also added a new on-device AI Director that can auto-edit footage overnight while the camera charges. The Insta360 X6 can also produce camera-gimbal like video video that smoothly tracks subjects (like people, pets, and objects) thanks to its new InstaFrame technology.
Lastly, Insta360 X6 promises up to 140 minutes of 8K30fps 360 video on a charge, which is 51% longer than the X5, thanks to a bigger 2,600mAh battery and 35% lower power draw from the processor. The camera also comes with 47GB of onboard storage in case you forget your microSD card at home.
