Grounded has officially been released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC after leaving early access. The game has received over 15 major updates since it entered early access on June 2020, but it’s now available to Xbox and PC gamers.
Grounded has so far amassed a Metacritic score of 83 on Xbox consoles from 18 critic reviews, meaning it’s generally received favorable scores. The title is performing a little better on PC, with a Metacritic score of 83 from 14 critic reviews.
IGN awarded Grounded a 9 out of 10 and said Obisidan’s title is a “fantastic survival game with a killer premise, rewarding progression, and boundless creativity that even a host of bugs can’t spoil.”
Windows Central gave Grounded high praise and a score of 9 out of 10, saying, “Grounded is bound to inspire other titles in the survival genre for years to come” and that it’s “one of the best games of 2022.”
GameSpot also enjoyed Grounded and gave it an 8 out of 10. “…the fantastical setup makes for an immediately intriguing setup, and to further stylize it as a uniquely child-like adventure, polish it beyond most of its peers, and set it in a world full of familiar sights to see in startling new ways makes Grounded no small feat.
GamesRadar wasn’t quite as enamored with Grounded as other reviewers but still gave the game a solid 7 out of 10. “Grounded has always been a solid idea on paper, but Obsidian brings that potential to full fruition for launch, delivering on the thrills and fun of its brilliantly Spielbergian conceit.”
