Bose has introduced two new pairs of open earbuds: the $299 Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the $199 Bose Sport Open Earbuds, both available for preorder on September 19 and shipping on October 1.
First, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) feature a refined design, adding a beveled metallic cap. They also feature a newly engineered driver that delivers deeper bass and higher volume.
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) also integrate Bose’s TrueSpatial technology, adding a new Cinema Mode that creates a wider, more immersive soundstage while sharpening and centering dialogue.
At the same time, these new open earbuds are a little smarter with Auto Volume intelligently adjusting playback to fluctuations in the environment. Meanwhile, SpeechClarity uses proprietary AI-enhanced voice-isolation technology to remove background noise and preserve your voice’s tone, warmth, and natural expression.
Battery life has also been extended to deliver up to nine hours of playback – up from the previous seven hours – and 19.5 additional hours stored in the charging case. The case has also been redesigned to stand upright and now supports wireless charging.
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) will be available to preorder for $199 on September 19 in a wide range of colors, including Black, White Smoke, Cherry Chocolate, Olive Green, and Sky Pink.
Bose Sport Open Earbuds
The Bose Sport Open Earbuds, meanwhile, are a slightly more affordable option with a soft, matte silicone finish that prioritizes stability, comfort, and durability. The earbuds are also rated IP54 for dust and water resistance.
They don’t feature a new driver like the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen), but they still support the same intelligent Auto Volume and SpeechClarity. Battery life, similarly, sits at a shorter seven hours in the earbuds and 22 hours in the case, which also stands vertically and charges wirelessly, but features a different textured translucent lid that makes it easier to see if the earbuds are in or not.
The Bose Sport Open Earbuds are available in Black, White Smoke, and Eucalyptus Green.
Both earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC, AAC, and AptX codecs. They also offer built-in Alexa+, Spotify Tap integration, Google Fast Pair, and Google Find Hub support to help you find your lost device.
