PlayStation Direct: PS5 Digital Edition

Sony has slashed the price of its PS5 Digital Edition by $200 in a limited-time deal just weeks after it had increased prices for all models.

Back on April 2nd, Sony introduced hefty price rises that saw the PS5 Pro increase to $900 from $750, while both the PS5 Digital and Standard Editions rose to $600 and $650, respectively.

This wasn’t the first price rise the standard models had experienced in the US either, with a previous $50 price hike taking place in August 2025.

However, it’s now offering a limited-time deal that takes the PS5 Digital Edition back to its original $399 launch price in a Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundle that adds eight cosmetic items that’ll be exclusive to PlayStation until November 26, 2026.

This is the first time this console has been its launch price in some time, and it’s getting increasingly rare to see it this low. The bundle includes the console, a DualSense controller, an HDMI cable, and a power cable. You’ll need to source the vertical stand separately if you want it.

This deal is also for a base 825GB launch model, as Sony recently reduced the amount of storage in the slim model from 1TB.

Likewise, this is the most affordable way by quite a margin to get a retail PS5 with a disc drive, as the drive remains $80. Add this to the PS5 Digital, and you’ll have a PS5 that can take discs for under $500, and a fair chunk less than Sony is charging itself

If you’re willing to go refurb, then Sony is also offering a ‘standard’ PS5 with disc drive for $399, which comes with the vertical stand and accessories, plus a limited one-year warranty. This is also exclusive to its PlayStation Direct store.

Sony says that this $200 price cut on the PS5 Digital Edition is available “while stocks last”, so you’ll want to get it while you can.

Amazon: Xbox ROG Ally $499

Amazon has slashed the price of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally down to $499.99 in a surprising discount that makes Microsoft’s handheld one of the most affordable options.

As things stand, Microsoft’s own store still has it at the $599.99 MSRP, where it’s ironically out of stock, making this reduction from Amazon better in terms of both price and availability.

As the base model in the lineup of the collaborative handhelds between Asus and Microsoft, the ROG Xbox Ally comes with AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A chip, a close relative of the one you’ll find in the Steam Deck, meaning it’s a reasonable choice for 720p and some 1080p gaming with four Zen 2 cores, eight threads and an eight Compute Unit RDNA-2 based iGPU.

The ROG Xbox Ally also features a decent capacity 60Wh battery, the same as the non-Xbox model, plus 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM and a decent capacity 512GB SSD. With an M.2 2280 form factor, this SSD is also easily replaceable with more conventional-sized drives if you need more storage.

This handheld also comes with a solid 7-inch 1920x1080 IPS screen that’s plenty bright and responsive thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate. While it may not be an OLED panel, Asus said it was a trade-off between variable refresh rate and OLED powers, and it chose the former both here and on the dearer Asus ROG Xbox Ally X model – as such, it has AMD FreeSync Premium.

The ROG Xbox Ally excels in my book with its ergonomics, coming with the same chunky grips as a normal Xbox controller, plus a clean white colorway and Xbox branding, as you’d expect.

There’s also a downwards-sloping screen to help with comfort, and a familiar Xbox button layout with diagonally-opposing thumbsticks, a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, plus shoulder buttons and triggers on the top side. There you’ll also find the ROG Xbox Ally’s ports, with it coming with a pair of USB-C ports and a microSD card for easy expansion.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is officially on sale today, and the good news is that you don’t need to pay full price for it. The not-so-good news: the pre-order window has closed, and the most aggressive trade-in offer – up to $900 off – expired this morning. Samsung has rolled back to its standard post-launch pricing, and the highest trade-in credit on the Samsung Store is now $720 off with an eligible device.

That’s still a meaningful reduction on a $1,299 MSRP for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it’s where I’d point most people first. Here’s a full breakdown of every way to save right now.

$150 off Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung deal: $720 off with trade-in, or $150 credit without

My primary recommendation for buying the Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung – it offers every storage configuration (256GB, 512GB, and 1TB), every color, including the online exclusive colors, and buying here means you get an unlocked phone that works with any carrier.

Right now, Samsung is offering up to $720 in instant trade-in credit applied directly at checkout – no mail-in rebate, no waiting required. You can trade in devices from Samsung, Apple, Google, and other brands, and Samsung accepts phones in any condition, including cracked screens. Of course, the credit amount depends on the specific model and its state.

If you don’t have a device to trade in (if you give your kids hand-me-downs, for example), Samsung is still offering $150 in Samsung Credit with a full-price purchase. That credit is redeemable against Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch, tablets, accessories, or Samsung Care+. It can’t knock money off the S26 Ultra itself – but if you were already eyeing a new pair of earbuds or a smartwatch, they’re almost free this way.

Here’s the math: $1,299 - $720 = $579 out of pocket for the base 256GB model. That’s a genuinely competitive price for the most capable Android flagship phone Samsung has ever released.

One thing worth being clear about: the pre-order period (February 25 through this morning) offered up to $900 in trade-in credit – $180 more than today’s deal. If you were holding out, hoping for a boosted trade-in offer, you’ve sadly already passed the peak. Trade-in values at Samsung generally ease lower as the weeks go on, so there’s no reward for waiting.

Carrier deals: effectively free at AT&T and T-Mobile

If you’re determined to buy through a US carrier rather than unlocked, the launch offers are hard to dismiss – provided you’re comfortable committing to a multi-year plan with your network of choice.

S26 Ultra on T-Mobile. You can get this top-of-the-line Galaxy phone at no cost when you add a new line on its Experience Beyond tier, or up to $1,300 off with an eligible trade-in. A new line alone qualifies – no trade-in required – making this one of the simplest offers in the carrier lineup. T-Mobile has also positioned the S26 series as particularly well-suited for its 5G network, citing faster speeds and lower latency for customers on its infrastructure.

S26 Ultra on AT&T. There’s a similar free-phone offer tied to a qualifying trade-in and an unlimited plan at AT&T – and it’s worth highlighting that the US carrier has structured this deal so that mid-tier unlimited plans qualify, not just the top-tier one. Anyone handing in a Galaxy S24 Plus, Z Fold 5, or a more recent model in any condition can reach the full $1,300 in bill credits, spread across 36 months. AT&T is also sweetening the bundle with a Galaxy Watch8 and Tab A11+ 5G each at under a dollar a month when added to the same order.

S26 Ultra on Verizon. Okay, the S26 Ultra at Verizon isn’t free, but it’s only at $5 per month across a 36-month agreement when you open a fresh line on its top unlimited plan. In total, the hardware cost through Verizon is $180. Swap in an eligible trade-in and Verizon brings that down to zero.

The trade-off with all three American carriers is the same: you’re agreeing to stay on that network and plan for three years. Leave early, and the remaining device balance lands back on your bill. That’s a reasonable commitment for someone already planning to stay put – or actively looking to switch networks – but for anyone who values flexibility, the Samsung trade-in path is the cleaner route.

What about Best Buy and Amazon?

Best Buy is throwing in a $100 gift card with any Galaxy S26 Ultra purchase. There’s an additional $100 price reduction available if you pair your purchase with a Verizon or AT&T connection at the time of checkout, bringing the effective starting price to $1,199 for carrier-connected buyers (historically, T-Mobile has never been a participant on Best Buy’s website, in case you were wondering). It’s a good option if you’d rather do the whole transaction in-store or prefer Best Buy’s return policy.

Amazon is bundling a $200 gift card with purchase. For regular Amazon shoppers that’s essentially cash back, pulling the real-world cost of the phone to around $1,099 – which puts it on par with the starting price of Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, but you’re getting double the base storage and an S Pen included.

Is the Galaxy S26 Ultra worth it at these prices?

I just spent two weeks testing the Galaxy S26 Ultra for review, and you can read my full impressions in The Shortcut’s in-depth hands-on article. The condensed version: the world-first built-in Privacy Display is a genuine step forward for the category, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the most powerful chip in any Android phone right now, and the camera system – especially the wider f/1.4 aperture on the main sensor and the new APV professional video codec – represents the biggest year-over-year camera upgrade the Ultra line has seen in a while, even if the camera megapixels stay the same.

At $579 after trade-in, it’s a compelling upgrade for anyone still on an S24 Ultra, S23 Ultra or older. If you’re coming from an S25 Ultra, it’s a closer call – but if you regularly handle sensitive information in public spaces, the Privacy Display alone might be reason enough to make the move. I really wish Privacy Display was coming to Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Fold.

Samsung’s store is still where I’d send most people (including my Android tech friends who trust my judgement on gadgets). You can get exclusive colors like Pink Gold and Silver Shadow, leave with an unlocked device, and take advantage of Samsung’s $720 trade-in credit, which remains the most straightforward discount at launch. For anyone buying through a carrier, AT&T and T-Mobile are both offering deals that effectively zero out the price, and Verizon isn’t too far behind – just go in knowing about the three-year commitment attached to them.

The Asus ROG Xbox Ally has proven surprisingly popular, despite its high price tag. However, those who were put off paying $599 for the more affordable version of Microsoft’s handheld won’t want to miss this deal at Amazon.

Right now, you can save $110 on the Asus ROG Xbox Ally – that’s 18% off the regular asking price. It’s a massive discount, and one that you’d expect to see when a revision is released or if the device had been on sale for a couple of years.

That’s not the case with the Asus ROG Xbox Ally though, as the portable PC only released on October 16, 2025. Saving $110 on the handheld then, especially as most electronics keep going up in price, is a fantastic deal.

The Asus ROG Xbox Ally may not be as powerful as the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X, but it’s still no slouch. It has a 1080p 120Hz touchscreen, an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Its 60Whr battery also means you can play for hours without worrying about running out of power, and every purchase comes with three months of Xbox Game Pass Premium.

The Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle hit a new low price at Walmart for Cyber Monday in a surprise discount. Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Target priced matched Walmart’s deal, but Walmart is the only outlet still selling the console bundle for just just $449.

That’s a $50 saving and means you’re getting Mario Kart World for free. You’ll need to sign in to add it to your cart, but it is there, lo-and-behold. Mario Kart World cost $80 separately and is unlikely to be discounted much by Nintendo in the future, so this is a great opportunity to get one of the best Switch 2 games.

This is a prime opportunity to snag a Switch 2 at a time when we definitely didn’t expect it to be discounted, not least as the console has sold so well at its MSRP for Nintendo. In fact, Nintendo recently revised its Switch 2 sales targets as it targets 19 million sales by March 2026.

In addition, as Nintendo recently implemented US price rises that affected both original Switch consoles and accessories, plus some Switch 2 accessories, the last thing folks expected was a price cut on this Switch 2 bundle.

The Switch 2 was also nowhere to be seen during Nintendo’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals news from a couple of weeks ago, though buying a bundle with a game included was still the best way to save.

If you’ve been on the fence about picking Nintendo’s latest console up, then allow me to explain why it’s worth your while. For starters, it’s received some very useful upgrades over its predecessor like a larger 7.9-inch Full HD screen with 120fps support in selected games.

According to one developer, Nintendo’s latest console is even a close match for the Xbox Series S, and the console can also do 4K/60Hz when docked, too. Developers have been quick to praise its increased power and clever features, such as the Joy-Con 2’s mouse mode, which have made the console a smash hit since its release.

What’s more, it comes with an envious selection of games, including Mario Kart World, which is included with this bundle, and provides you with a range of tracks, characters and even an open-world mode to get stuck into. Plus, you can play almost all of your original Switch games on the new console, so they won’t go to waste either.

If you’ve been thinking of picking up a Switch 2 but have been waiting for a price drop, now’s the time to strike with this Walmart deal in mind.

Even though we’re still a day away from Black Friday, the deals have been flowing thick and fast at Walmart. Truth be told, Black Friday seems to start earlier and earlier every year, which gives shoppers more time to save.

But with so many deals flying around, it can be hard to find the choice picks. That’s why we’ve rounded up our favorite Walmart Black Friday deals on tech and gaming gifts still in stock.

1. Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle

The Nintendo Switch 2 is bound to top most children’s wishlists this Christmas, but are there any Black Friday deals? Well, not really, as you might expect for a console that’s only six months old. Early Black Friday deals are in full swing, and one of our favorite 256GB microSD Express cards for Nintendo Switch 2 has dropped to a record low price at Amazon.

The 256GB SanDisk microSD Express card is just $60 as part of a Black Friday Week discount, knocking $20 off its previous list price. It’s also a return to its best-ever price.

The SanDisk card sits in our ranking for the best microSD Express cards for Nintendo Switch 2, and for good reason, too. Considering that this new kind of storage can be quite dear, it gives you the chance to double your Switch 2’s internal capacity for a reasonable price.

Having an extra 256GB of storage is especially useful, considering we’re seeing game sizes swell across all platforms, and the Switch 2 is no different. In terms of Switch 2 game sizes, Mario Kart World at 23.4GB is one of the largest first-party games, while third-party titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 at 64GB will fill your storage even quicker.

microSD Express is the way forward for the Switch 2’s storage, as the new console won’t work with any older microSD cards you have. This is largely because of the new speed requirements. SanDisk rates these cards for up to 880MB/s reads and 650MB/s, which makes them four times faster than the very best microSD cards you can purchase.

There are other value options available in this capacity, too, with PNY and Lexar’s own cards sitting at $50 right now. As much as it seems unlikely that the Switch 2 is going to receive any kind of reduction for the big shopping holiday (it wasn’t included in Nintendo’s Black Friday sales news), the fact that expandable storage has gone down in price is still a win.

The same is true of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundle. You’re saving $20 instead of $30, but it’s still better to pay the $499.99 bundle price instead of buying the console and game separately for $449.99 and $69.99, respectively. That’s $519.99.

Nintendo rarely discounts its first-party games – if ever. Picking them up as part of a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle is a sound investment then, and Mario Kart World and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are two of the best titles available right now.

You can also use the money you save by buying a Switch 2 bundle to pick up another game for less, or one of the best Switch 2 accessories.

If you’ve been holding out for a fantastic PlayStation Portal Black Friday deal, this may be the year to grab one. Not only has the handheld dropped to $179 – saving you $20 – but Sony recently released an update that transformed the usefulness of the PlayStation Portal.

I’ve probably been one of the PlayStation Portal’s biggest detractors since it was revealed, as the idea of spending $200 for a handheld that could only let you stream games from a PS5 console using Remote Play was a hard sell.

However, even I can admit that with the new cloud streaming update, the PlayStation Portal is far more appealing – and I’m even tempted to pick one up myself. If you have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, you can now access over 2,000 games and enjoy all the perks of using the DualSense controller, such as haptic feedback. You can also stream games you already own, so you’re not tied to your console anymore.

I’ve tried PlayStation 5’s cloud streaming before and found it to be far superior to the likes of Xbox Cloud Gaming, offering superior image quality and similar input latency. Having a device with an 8-inch screen and all the features from the PS5 suddenly makes the PS Portal viable, and I can see this Black Friday PlayStation Portal deal being a hit for Sony.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the PlayStation Portal is still a streaming device. You can’t install or download games natively to the device, so make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection around your home before picking one up.

If you’ve been patiently waiting for a PS5 Pro Black Friday deal, I’d recommend snapping this one up today. You can save $100 on Sony’s souped-up PlayStation 5, which means it’s currently $50 less than the console launched for.

Yes, this Black Friday PS5 Pro deal would have been even better, but Sony raised the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro and its other consoles by $50 earlier this year. And unfortunately, it looks like that trend could continue.

We’ve seen Microsoft implement two price increases for the Xbox Series X|S consoles, and even Nintendo was forced to raise the price of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED.

It means there’s a high probability that the PS5 Pro could end up closer to $800 and above if market conditions continue to be tumultuous. Not only is the PS5 Pro potentially becoming more expensive for Sony to manufacture, but tariffs are also impossible to predict right now.

Picking up a PS5 Pro for $649.99 today could seem like an even sweeter deal in a few years’ time, then, as with every price increase the discount will be less substantial. Sadly, the days of consoles becoming cheaper with every passing year appear to be over.

PS5 Black Friday deals on PS5 consoles, controllers, and games went live yesterday, and they’re still available today.

The biggest discounts include $100 off all PS5 consoles, making the $649 PS5 Pro, $399 PS5 Slim Digital Edition, and $449 standard PS5 Slim all a little more affordable. These are the first deals we’ve seen on PS5 consoles since Sony introduced price hikes across its entire hardware lineup earlier this August.

While PlayStation announced the deals would start on November 21, the company didn’t say when they would end, so use these discounts while they’re still live.

PlayStation also has discounts on almost all its hardware, including the PlayStation Portal, which is now $179 with $20 off. The PS Portal is essentially a PlayStation handheld that lets you stream games from your PS and, more recently, from the cloud.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED has a rich 32-inch 4K screen that provides sumptuous detail, making it ideal for more cinematic, immersive gaming. It also comes with a 240Hz refresh rate for silky smooth and responsive on-screen action – combined with its 0.03ms response time, it’s also perfect for competitive games.

With its OLED screen, you can enjoy typical inky blacks and immense dynamic range that make images sharp and crisp. This Samsung screen benefits from excellent colour accuracy, too, achieving a quoted 99 percent DCI-P3 colour space coverage. If you’ve been eyeing up Apple’s latest AirPods Pro 3 noise-cancelling wireless earbuds, then now’s the time to strike.

As part of Amazon’s current Black Friday promotion, which runs until December 1, the latest AirPods Pro have dropped to $220. It may be a small $30 price cut from the usual retail price, but it’s the lowest these have ever been.

Apple has made numerous changes and improvements to the third-gen AirPods Pro model. They have twice the Active Noise Cancellation as their predecessor, thanks to a combo of some new microphones and a thin layer of foam that’s been added to the eartips.

In addition, Apple has employed a new multiport acoustic design and refined the Adaptive EQ that automatically adjusts the audio profile of the earbuds depending on what you’re listening to. This deepens the bass and provides more width. As part of its optimizations, these earbuds’ sound signature has been adjusted to have a more natural sound.

The most surprising change to the AirPods Pro 3 is that they now have heart rate sensing built in, so you can use them as a tool to see how much you’re pushing yourself without a separate Apple Watch. Granted, it isn’t as detailed as the tracking on an Apple Watch, but useful to have if you forget to put your watch on for a workout.

Apple has made other small, but noteworthy changes, such as upping the water resistance to IP57 from the Pro 2’s IP54 for both the buds and the case. Battery life has also been improved to eight hours on the buds against six hours on the Pro 2. The 24 hours provided by the case are unchanged.

This is the best price we’ve seen on Apple’s brand new AirPods Pro 3 and is worth a look if you want to grab an early Black Friday bargain.

If you’re searching for the best performance and highest resolution possible when playing PlayStation 5 games, then you won’t want to miss this PS5 Pro Black Friday deal.

Sony revealed that from today, November 21, it’s knocking $100 off the most powerful console on the market, bringing the asking price of the PS5 Pro down to $649.99. That’s $50 less than the PlayStation 5 Pro’s launch price, and $100 off the current price of $749.99.

We’ve seen the number of PS5 Pro enhanced games rise dramatically since the console launched, and it’ll likely be the best way to experience GTA 6 when it launches in November next year.

Just remember that the PS5 Pro doesn’t include a disc drive. If you have a large library of physical titles, you’ll have to pick up the PS5 Disc Drive add-on separately, which usually costs around $80.

If the PS5 Pro isn’t for you, you can also save on the PS5 Slim Digital Edition and PS5 Slim. The standard PlayStation 5 consoles are down to $399 and $499, respectively.
